International Menus for the Globetrotter

A traveller and lover of good food, Dolores Freely has spent most of her life living in various parts of the world, collecting recipes and preparing and serving her guests her favorite finds. The consummate global hostess, Freely’s easy manner and gentle instructions take the mystery out of preparing many international favorites. This book eases the way for those who might be hesitant on throwing a dinner or cocktail party, for the complete menus offer step-by-step instructions that will guide the cook from soup and starters to desserts. The menus include selections from a wide variety of food cultures and tastes, with full menus from Central and Northern Europe, France, the Mediterranean, Off-Continent (America and Russia) and a variety of menus from Asia. Having lived for many years in Turkey, Freely also includes directions for preparing the traditional drinking (rakı) table of Istanbul, replete with a wide variety of the small, drink-accompanying dishes called meze. Vegetarians are not forgotten and Freely also gives us high tea and brunch offerings. The recipes in International Menus for the Globetrotter are built on readily-available ingredients and long experience with entertaining guests with unique and tasty dishes. These recipes are “home cooking” for those whose homes may be in any corner of the globe.
