Ahmad Hilmi of Filibe (1865-1914) was born in Plodiv (Filibe) in Bulgaria. He is a Turkish Sufi writer and thinker. Being a Sufi his thoughts were influenced by the Sufi thought, more specifically the wahdat al-wujud, greatly. . . .. . . . I was again at the dwelling of Aynali Baba to receive my daily sustenance, as had by now become customary. Instead of taking a seat in front of the cabin, however, Aynali Baba took me this time to a secluded corner of the graveyard, by far the most isolated and most remotely situated from the road. Go and lie down on that grave, he said, pointing toward a large gravestone. By the looks of the turban on the stone, he must have been a prominent scholar of his time. Go and receive a dose of enlightenment from his spiritual presence, he then added with a grin.
